INSULATORS

Greek Army

In 1887 at the Ministry of the Army he organized a Battalion of Telegraphs, subordinated to the Engineer. This is how the first Communications Department in the Greek Army is formed. During the First Balkan War 1912 – 1913 there were groups of telegraph operators who offered valuable services during the operations. In the Second Balkan War against Bulgaria, there were nine Telegraph Squadrons and one Wireless Battalion. In 1914, the right of the respective Government to recruit the employees of T.T.T. was established by law. They, as conscripts, would continue to perform the service they had in their political life, but would be subject to Martial Laws and Regulations. In 1946, Law 919 establishes the Transmission Weapon, which assumes the support of the Army communications. For as long as the wire was used as a means of transport, initially for telegraphic and later for telephone communication, the insulators used in the Greek Army network were made of white and brown porcelain. On the insulators were written the initials ΄΄Ε.Σ.΄΄ with various graphic characters and colors depending on the country of manufacture.
