Since the era of wood and metal, a new material has appeared in the industry in 1935: Bakelite. Some call it the early plastic. It is lighter, can be worked more easily into various shapes, has a vintage aesthetic and adds elegance to the object. Its negative point…..very sensitive to impacts. If the object made of Bakelite were hit, the most likely scenario would be that it would break. Naturally, towards the end of the 1930s, this new material also influenced telephone manufacturers. Usually in black with the characteristic shine that was maintained with Vaseline, of particular aesthetics and design elegance. The telephones did not differ in any way other than the shell and handle, which were made of Bakelite.
