In Europe, the American ITT group in 1930 merged the German companies C. Lorenz AG and Standard Elektrik AG, which were its share capital, and Standard Elektrik Lorenz AG (SEL) was created. In Greece, they were received by OTE in the early 1970s and placed in household subscribers as well as in public services. OTE has implemented a policy against the purchase and use of other telephone devices by other manufacturers in its network, in order to ensure technical integrity and reliability and to avoid competition. It was a practice practiced by all telephone companies at that time around the world. The ITT devices received in Greece by ITT HELLAS with code 1405491 were in five colors: gray, green, ivory, blue and red. Depending on the hue of the device at the end of the code there was in Latin character the initial letter of the corresponding color. Of these devices, others have the ITT logo embossed on the back of the housing-shell and in the middle of the handle and others the SEH (Standard Elektrik Hellas) logo. Respectively, the logos are imprinted on the selection disc. On the rosettes (circular device for the connection of the device with the wiring of the house) that were of a corresponding color with the shade of the device, the name of the company Face Standard is embossed. Also on the base of the telephone device, which was metal, the name ITT HELLAS or Standard Elektrik HELLAS was imprinted in black. From the mid-1980s and since a large volume of devices of this type had been installed, OTE manufactured a housing-shell and a handle as a spare part only in gray color to be adequate in repairs. Both the hoysing-shell and the handle had the company logo (OTE) embossed.
