Electrim

The laboratories of the Telecommunications Organization of Greece in 1983 decided to design and manufacture a telephone device. Both the philosophy and the exterior design were influenced by the telephone device CB-643 ELEKTRIM of the Polish company RWT, which had been supplied by OTE anyway in the late 1960s. Its name was ELECTRIM. It was available in three shades: red, gray and green (pistachio). Internally the electronic components were borrowed from the CB-643 device. The cords were connected to the device with plugs similar to those of the Siemens H70 and MASTERSET 111. The rotary dial was a combination of the Siemens H70 and the RWT CB-643. The cover on the finger wheel was in the shade of the device. The finger stopper  was nickel-plated.  The cords were spiral shaped for the red and gray devices were in the same shade and the pistachio was in ivory shade. The device was available to OTE telephony subscribers from 1983 until the end of the 1980s. It was the first serious attempt to produce a telephone device of Greek design, even if it concerned only the external parts and not the electronic components.
