American-made glass insulator by Hemingray. Corning Pyrex glass was first used and later many companies produced this style. Hemingray Glass was an American glass company founded by Robert Hemingray and Ralph Gray in Cincinnati in 1848. In its early years, the company underwent many frequent name changes, including Gray & Hemingray. Gray, Hemingray & Bros. , Gray, Hemingray & Brother, Hemingray Bros. & Company, and R. Hemingray & Company prior to their incorporation into Hemingray Glass Company, Inc. in 1870. The code according to the National Insulators Association (NIA) is CD-128. It was built for use in long distance telephony from the 1930s until the late 1950s. The dimensions of the insulator are 62mm x 99mm.
