H-63

Siemens & Halske in 1963 introduced the device called H63 (ie Modell 63) with code Fg Tist 54. It was the replacement of the telephone device M55. In this device it changes ergonomic design and places the handle in a horizontal position. It was available in six colors: red, blue, gray, ivory, yellow and green. This is how the tradition in polychromy started by the predecessor M55 continues. Internally it uses the plastic intermediate chassis, with mounted electrical components designed since 1970 for the M55 device (code Fg Tist 282cb). At the bottom of the base there was an accessory that regulates the volume of the bells. The first versions had a plastic braid in the shade in which the device was painted. Used spiral cables since 1970 and for as long as it is manufactured. In addition to an office device, a wall-mounted model was introduced in 1964.  During production, Siemens & Halske solved the two problems it encountered with the M55 device in terms of paint quality and resistance to misuse (scratches, etc.). In Greece, the device was made available to telephony subscribers by the OTE in the late 1960s in all colors. We will find plenty in blue, gray, red and green shades. In ivory and yellow coloration is rare. It was in operation until the mid-1990s, mainly in Public Services. In the 1980s and 1990s, when there was intense partisanship in Greece, the color of the H63 indicated the political beliefs of its owner.
