Masterset 111

In 1970 Siemens began research to replace the H70 telephone device. In 1971 it was introduced under the name MASTERSET 111. Once again Siemens pioneered the design by making a phone where the handset was perpendicular to the case, but not in the center of the device as happened with the Fg Tist 261 and Fg Tist 282 but on its left side. A modern telephone for its time. Made entirely of thermoplastic. The electrical components were now mounted on a printed circuit board. The nickel-colored bells were set upside down. The components of the selection disc are now mostly made of plastic. The numbers on the tray are no longer made of porcelain but paper. The phone was in production until the late 1980s. It was made into millions of copies worldwide by Siemens subsidiaries. In the Netherlands it was sold by PTT in the 1980s under the name ΄΄Hilversum΄΄. It was introduced in 1973 after replacing the selection disc with a keyboard. In 1976 a variant of it allows the user to make a call via DTMF. We are slowly moving to the replacement of analog devices with electronic ones. The MASTERSET 111 was a semi-electronic telephone device. The colors released were: green, purple, orange, beige, gray and mustard. In Greece, MASTERSET 111 was distributed by OTE to its subscribers in all its colors and versions (for home use, call centers etc.). All devices emboss the Siemens logo in silver letters on the top of the housing-shell. Only in the gray shade there are housing-shells with the OTE logo engraved on the top in the color of the device or in silver color (spare parts made in Greece).
