OLYMPIC GAMES ATHENS 2004

GRAND SPONSOR O.T.E

Lapel pins are the most popular collectibles at the Olympic Games. Their production volume and release date—or age—determine their value for collectors. The practice of pin trading and collecting pins has been a feature of the Olympic Games since the early 20th century. Naturally, this activity—or “cultural phenomenon,” if I may call it that—was also a part of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games. Revenue generated by the Organizing Committee from lapel pins alone exceeded twelve million euros. Hundreds of different designs were released, covering every aspect of the Games—such as sport pictograms, the official mascot, sponsors, and more. OTE (along with its subsidiary, COSMOTE) was among the sponsors of the 2004 Olympic Games, serving as a major national sponsor. This page displays almost the entire range of pins—in various packaging and editions—as well as keychains and other items released by OTE in 2004.
