CB-35

In 1932, the Bell Telephone Manufacturing Company (BTMC) in Antwerp, Belgium designed a telephone set that could be sold by all European subsidiaries of the International Standard Electric Corporation. It was adopted by the telephone companies of Belgium, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Britain with model code 2724, Spain, Italy and South American countries, which was manufactured until the 1960s. Perhaps one of the most successful telephone models since it spread throughout the world. In 1935, this particular telephone, called the CB-35, was also manufactured by the International Standard Electric Corporation’s subsidiary in Hungary, Standard Villamossagi R.T. In Hungary it was produced in four colors: black, green, ivory and dark red. Its difference from the corresponding models around the world was in the dial. Above the dial there was a curved recess for the owner’s telephone number. The device was made of Bakelite except for the base which was metal. On the front bottom of the shell there was a metal plate with the company’s name. On the side of the shell there is also a metal plate with the inscription ”A M. KIR. POSTA TULAJDONA” which means property of the Hungarian Royal Post Office. On the base of the device was engraved the production serial number.
