The Sophienau (Zofiówka) factory was founded in 1857. Its first owner was Julius Schwarz, who sold it two years later to Joseph Schachtel. The factory operated two kilns and employed forty workers. Initially, mainly pipe cups were produced, as well as small decorative porcelain items, such as sacred water containers. From 1925 the Schachtel factory supplied the German Post with significant quantities of insulators for telegraph and telephone lines but also exported to other countries such as Greece. Today the factory belongs to the Lapp Insulators group. The dimensions of the insulator are 82mm x 140mm.
