In 1872 the first telegraph equipment company was founded the Viennese company Deckert & Homolka, in Budapest, which has been cooperating with the LM Ericsson Group since 1908. In 1884 the above company, the telephone and telegraph factory Czeja, Nissl & Co. was founded by the above company. This Viennese company had a significant share in the construction of the telephone network of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, including the Czech territories. Since 1896, the company has been involved in the American concern of Western Electric and changed its name to Joint Phone and Telegraph Factory Czeja, Nissl & Co. The company produces phones, including the Hekaphon brand. Dague & spol was founded in Prague in 1876 and specializes in telegraphs and telephones. With the inflow of American funds, the company was renamed Standart Electric Doms a spol. In 1890, the German company Siemens & Halske, which specializes in telegraph and later telephone equipment, opened offices in Prague and Brno since its founding in 1847. In 1877, the company improved the Bell telephone and began production. After the founding of the independent Czechoslovak Republic in 1918, there was a need to rebuild and further develop the telephone network, or to renew it after World War I. since 1919, other companies have been set up, focusing on telephone communications. These are mainly the companies Telegrafia, Elektrotechna, BKPrchalové and Mikrophona, Bratří Knotkové. At the initiative of the Ministry of Posts and Communications, the joint-stock company Telegrafia was founded in October 1919, in which 60% of the shares belonged to the state and produced telephones, telegraphs. In 1930, the Prague-based Elektrotechna company was founded and from the beginning was closely associated with Siemens & Halske. Immediately after the Second World War, already in 1945 and 1946, all the above small companies were gradually nationalized. In March 1946, Tesla was founded as the successor to Elektra, an electrical engineering company previously owned by Philips. In August 1946, the national company Tesla was founded, which included, among others, companies producing telephones, exchanges and other equipment, such as Telegrafia, Siemens-Halske, Prchal-Ericsson, Mikrofona or Elektrotechna. The national company was founded on August 10, 1946 at the Mikrofona factory in Prague Strašnice. The first models of telephones and equipment under the Tesla brand only had the TESLA logo printed or embossed on them, but they were devices that had been manufactured until then in individual electrical installations. However, in the national company, the production of individual equipment and components is gradually grouped. The post-war base for the production of telephone equipment (telephones, equipment and exchanges) is the Tesla Karlín factory (until then Elektrotechna, Siemens & Halske) and the Tesla Kolín factory (until then Prchal-Ericsson). The transmission systems were built on the Tesla Strašnice (until then Mikrofona, Bratří Knotkové). The first standard serial telephone was developed by Tesla, the T57, and later modified by the T58. With the growing demand for telephone equipment, both the Tesla Litovský Hrádok plant in 1960 and the Tesla Stropkov plant in 1964 established their own scientific research base, which in turn led to the innovation of the telephone program. For the types that have been produced so far, new materials are used, instead of thermoset material (bakelite), thermoplastic devices are beginning to appear. This material allowed other colors besides the usual black until then. In the first half of the 1960s, T58 phones were produced in light and dark gray, black blue or ivory. In 1965, production of new types of T65S began. The numbered plate of the rotary dial is made of plastic, while the finger wheel is made of Bakelite. The number plate of the finger wheel was metallic painted in the color of the device. Inside the electronic components are mounted on the base of the phone fastened with screws. The wires of the handle and the connection to the telephone line are of the braid type in the shade of the respective device. The base of the phone is metal, painted in the color of aluminum. In Greece, the device has been available to telephony subscribers by OTE since the early 1960s in all colors. We will find plenty in black. In the other shades it is rare.
