The Dutch company Hengelosche Electrische en Mechanische Apparaten Fabriek (HEEMAf) was founded in 1908 and was a manufacturer of electrical machines and equipment. From 1932 to 1955 it produced telephone sets and accessories for the Dutch PTT. During World War II, like every other company, it produced military equipment for Germany. After the war, the company flourished and produced large numbers of its products. In 1948, two subsidiaries were established, one in Zwartemeer, which was engaged in the winding of electric motors, and the other in Coevorden, which was engaged in the assembly of telephone sets. In 1949, it entered into an agreement with Philips Telecommunication Industry. In 1963, NV Heemaf ceased to exist as a brand and was incorporated into the Holec company. In 1970, telephone sets of various types manufactured by HEEMAF were exported to the United States of America and sold. A small number of sets, mainly of the 1955 type, arrived in Greece where they were marketed to individuals.
